Walgreens
have been
a part of our community for a long time now. They have been a part of
our life for over a century in total. They are there whenever we need
them. On a cold winter night, when our kids are not feeling well, we're
confident that we have a place we can go to anytime; that's why many
people often go to Walgreens to get the medicine for themselves and
their ailing kids first before going anywhere else! Whatever we need
for our own wellness, Walgreens are there for us. We know their helpful
staff, because the people with Walgreens jobs represent the people in
our neighborhood, too.
Back in 1901, the first Walgreens
drugstore was located on the corner of Bowen Avenue and Cottage Grove,
Chicago, Illinois. It was owned by Charles R. Walgreen Sr. By 1930,
there were 397 stores present in 87 cities and not even the Great
Depression nor the Stock Market Crash of 1929 affected Walgreens jobs
or the operation of their stores. Today, Walgreens have more than 7,500
drugstores in 50 states and in Puerto Rico, making it the largest
drugstore chain in the United States.
For people who are making
a living from a Walgreens salary, Walgreens is like the solid rock from
which they are building their lives. The company has been attracting a
very diverse group of employees from all walks of life. Today, there
are more than 230,000 team members (what Walgreens like to call their
employees), all coming from different backgrounds. This diversity helps
Walgreens' business and the way they serve their equally diverse
customers.

Walgreens
is known for
taking care of their team members well. The Walgreens salary for each
job position has always been competitive, a notch above the country's
average annual wage. Looking at an example of a Walgreens payscale,
we'll see that the national average salary for a pharmacist, according
to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, is $51.27 per hour, or $106,630 per
year. Pharmacists receiving a Walgreens salary can earn as much as
$55.37 per hour.
The rest of Walgreens payscale, in hourly rate,
shows senior certified
pharmacy technicians earning $13.55 and
certified pharmacy technicians earning $11.59; whilst non-certified
pharmacy technicians may only get $9.97 an hour. Retail store assistant
managers can earn roughly $16.65, sales clerk and cashiers can bring in
$8.28 an hour, and photo shop clerks can earn a salary of $9.06 an
hour. Aside from Walgreens wages, employees also receive a number of
additional benefits that are on top of the Walgreens employee salary
that they take home.
At Walgreens, "you can make a living and a
difference" as the company says, to the community where you're working.
A Walgreens salary is very competitive and very stable; a career in
Walgreens, as illustrated during the 1929's Great Depression period, is
very secure in nature. The company motto is "there is a way", and
indeed, they certainly look for any way to help their customers. You
too should look for any way possible to attaining a successful and
fulfilling career with Walgreens.
